cHONDA CB550 Four
CAFE RACER
(Page Currently Under Construction)
After completing the CB750K cafe racer, the itch had not been fully scratched. I really loved how the CB750 turned out, but deep inside, I wasn't satisfied by the amount of hands on work I got to do. I wanted to gain even more understanding and experience on the different processes for finishing a motorcycle. So as any normal individual would do, I purchased another motorcycle (2 years later)!
This time, I wasn't starting off from as comfortable of a position as I was before with much of the motorcycle intact. This bike looked like it had hit rock bottom....and then fell another 15 meters.
It's exactly what I was looking for - something that needed attention at every nook and cranny. Without spending an absurd amount of money, I was able to:
-
completely overhaul the carburetors
-
thoroughly examine the condition of the engine
-
run compression tests, fuel tests, and electrical tests
-
lace the front and rear wheels
-
add knee dents into the tank
-
make a custom fiberglass tail and seat pan
-
design and fabricate a custom latching mechanism
-
clean out rust within the tank and line with chemical liner to protect from future rusting
-
paint the tank and tail with base color and 2k clear coat for protection against chemicals
-
pinstripe the tank and seat
-
wire a new harness with a new internal computer
-
properly perform all of the required servicing (valve adjustments, timing, re-jetting, float setting, carb sync, etc.)
